Weltrad Bicycle
In the late 1920s, the world bike was not only the most successful, but also one of the most elegant two-wheelers in the republic. For several years now, the design classics have been rebuilt in a factory in Saxony-Anhalt – by hand and with a sensing for tradition and state-of-the-art technology.
From because of “less is more”: The new world bike is something like the counter-proposal to the general road bike and Fixie hype, which the entire bicycle nation currently seems to succumb to. “With the world bike, everyone can escape the stress of everyday life and discover the driving experience that the cyclists of the 1930s felt during their pleanecks,” explains René Leue, founder of the Weltrad Manufaktur. Together with a young entrepreneur friend, Leue has resurrected the historic bicycle brand in 2004. In Schönebeck on the Elbe, not far from the Elbe cycle path in Saxony-Anhalt, a new edition of the world bike has since been produced in close style of the historical building plans. The handmade wheels combine traditional lines with innovative materials, sophisticated technology and a quality of workmanship that you will look for in vain in the bicycle wholesale market.
